No. You are correct that you need a high def set to see high def
programming yes. But if you are watching from beyond a certain distance
you will get no benefit from that resolution. The questioner asked what
size of screen he needs to get for his viewing distance. Whether it is a
high def screen or not is irrelevant. That is up to him. But in order to
get the right screen size you need to work it out from your viewing
distance. And that varies depending on whether you are buying to watch
SD content or HD content.
