RGB problems with Sky + / Sony RDR-VX410 DVDR / Sony TV

I need some RGB advice please.

I have religiously followed instructions and connected

[Sky+] 'VCR Out' Scart to

[Sony RDR-VX410] DVD Recorder 'Line 3' Scart (input) , then

[Sony RDR-VX410] DVD Recorder 'AV1' Scart (output) to

[Sony TV] 'AV1 RBG' Scart (input).

RGB is enabled on all devices where appropriate.

My problem is that the 'VCR Out' on the Sky + does not output RGB, so
obviously I get sound but no picture. I can view the picture if I select
plain 'AV1 (no RGB)' on the Sony TV, with a poor picture as expected.

The Sony DVD recorder specifically says to use the 'VCR Out' scart on a Sky
box, not the main 'TV Out' Scart. So here's the rub - if I use the 'TV Out'
Scart I *do* get a picture via RGB but the colours are all smeared and
distorted, which I guess is why the Sony manual says to not use it!

There must be a way of doing this - how can I use the 'TV Out' Scart on the
Sky + box?

Thanks for *any* help.

This seems odd. Are you absolutely sure that the Sony DVDR supports
RGB in?

Also I don't quite follow your reference to "DVD Recorder 'Line 3'
Scart (input)" : is this scart 2 or does the DVDR have 3 scarts?

If you do this:

Digibox "TV" scart output = DVDR scart 2
DVDR scart 1 = TV scart 1

then you should get RGB passthrough with no problems (though you won't
be able to record using autoview on the digibox). If you don't get RGB
passthrough then the DVDR is probably faulty or badly designed.

Thanks so much for the prompt reply!

Yes. Confirmed and enabled.

No, it has two scarts but the second one is labelled Line 3. I guess the
SVHS or component out is Line 2.

That's exactly what I've done other than the Sony DVDR box calls it's Scart
2 'Line3', as above.

I'm thinking badly designed, as the DVDR manual specifically tells you to
use the VCR Scart on the digibox, not the TV Scart. Which is crap, because
the VCR Scart (as we know) doesn't carry RGB!

So what could be in the TV VCR out of the Sky+ box that the Sony DVDR
doesn't like? I was hoping there would be some magic pin in the Scart I
could disconnect which would make everything fine :-)
